Double clipping in shaft fire separating walls

The QBCC has been conducting random audits of fire separating walls and has discovered a common non-compliance with their installation in many various projects. It involves the use of “double clipping”, a process where the single clip is not long enough to reach the supporting truss/frame member, and so a second clip is screw connected to the wall clip to extend it. This method of connection is not detailed in the installation manuals and there is no testing available for this type of connection. QBCC have issued directions to remove the double clips and provide a proper supporting substrate to the single clip.
