Ipswich Council have amended their Auxiliary Unit provisions.
An Auxiliary Unit is a secondary dwelling having an area of no more than 50 m2 and one bedroom.
On lots 450 m2 or greater, Auxiliary Units can only be built on nominated lots on a reconfiguration approval; on a lot with a minimum area of 800 m2 created in 2006 or before, and not on a hatchet lot.
On lots under 450 m2, Auxiliary Units can only be built on nominated lots on a reconfiguration approval.
Otherwise a code assessable application will be required to be made to Council or the reconfiguration plan amended. The application will need to demonstrate that Auxiliary Units are adequately dispersed in the area.
