Where the edge of a pool is trafficable and more than 1m above the ground level beneath, the pool fencing also acts as a balustrade to prevent falls.
This pool fencing balustrading is subject to the safe movement and access provisions of the National Construction Code (NCC).
Where the pool fencing/balustrading includes a spigot or face-mounted glass fixings or similar, the following will be required:
• a Form 15 design certificate from an engineer
• a Form 16 installation certificate
• a Form 15 glazing certificate.
Handrails are also required in these situations.
